WILD - Jr Duck Stamp
Date: 02/25/2023 10:00 AM - 02/25/2023 12:00 PM
Event Details
Each year students K-12 compete in a wildlfe art contest showcasing the waterfowl that visits Kansas. Students can draw or paint a native North American duck, goose, or swan. The national best of show artwork provides the design for the Junior Duck Stamp, which the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service sells for $5.
This February WILD program will be an informal opportunity to work on a submission for the contest. Tables with art supplies, sketch paper, and waterfowl mounts will be set-up at our entrance and an educator will assist with proper anatomy, background habitats, creating a conservation message, and completing the entry form. KWEC will mail your artwork to the state competition.
Several 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards are given in the following grade level groups: K-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12
These winning entries also travel the state at various locations showcasing the artwork. This display was housed at KWEC last October-December, and we expect to have it again later this year.
