Perseid Meteor Shower Watch Party
Date: 08/13/2021 8:30 PM - 08/13/2021 10:30 PM
Event Details
Our annual end of summer, spaced-themed event encourages visitors to look to the sky on Friday August 13. As Earth passes through the path of the Swift-Tuttle Comet each year, the debris will light up the sky. 2021 conditions are setting up to be perfect! The moon sets early this year, producing a dark sky, and the date this year falls on a peak day, which could produce over 150 sightings per hour! This FREE, family friendly event will start at 8:30pm with crafts, experiments, and games. We'll also have the FHSU Science and Mathematics Education Institutes inflatable planetarium for shows with guaranteed star-viewing!
Visitors are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy smore’s while they kick back and scan the night sky once it is dark
