1:30 PM

Kansas Wetlands Education Center, 592 NE K-156 Highway, Great Bend, KS

Nowadays, it is hard to imagine life without plastic, but did you know that plastic can be bad news for our health and the environment? Come out to the KWEC on April 22nd starting at 1:30 pm for an eye opening experience and obtain some free food and items in the process! Our Earth Day celebration will feature several wonderful programs, including a Plastics-Free Cooking Class where participants will get to try foods made without the use of plastic and will learn how to make their meals healthier, reduce waste and save money. A documentary, Bag It, will also be shown. Bag It has been garnering awards at film festivals across the nation. What started as a documentary about plastic bags evolved into a wholesale investigation into plastics and their effect on our bodies, waterways, and even our oceans. All programs that day will be free of charge, refreshments will be served, and the first one hundred people will receive a re-usable cloth shopping bag. Get ready for an Earth Day Celebration that you will never forget!! Call the KWEC at (620)786-7456 for more information or to register.
